Opelika Main Street Ongoing Programs

Downtown Heritage Walk
Learn about Opelika's rich history by following the railroad track sidewalk markers and reading the accompanying brochure. This project was created to promote positive images of the local community and its heritage; to teach children that the cultural roots of every community are worthy and honorable; and to create an attraction for visitors to our city.

This is a project of Opelika Main Street, made possible by contributions from the Opelika Historic Preservation Society, Opelika Downtown Redevelopment Authority, Opelika Chamber of Commerce, City of Opelika Public Works Department, Museum of East Alabama, Jernigan Photography, Cameragraphics and Flip Flop Photo.

Customer Appreciation Days
Shop at participating downtown shops on the second Thursday each month and receive 15% any one item. Some exclusions may apply. For a list of participating shops visit the Main Street office at 1032 S. Railroad Avenue, The Chamber of Commerce at 601 Avenue A or downtown businesses.
